Useful Molecular Biology Sites

Introduction

The links on this site are just some of the many available on the WWW for molcular biology research. Tools and resources are constantly being added to the WWW.

Good starting points are the European database at EBI or the American database at NCBI

Formats: a description of some of the many different ways of displaying sequence information. FASTA is perhaps the most useful and will be accepted by most programs.

Accession numbers: all sequences in the databases have been designated with an accession number (some proteins have >1!) consisting of letters and numbers. e.g. the accession number for E. coli RecA protein is P03017.
