I have predictable
male pre-occupations with cars, motorbikes and football. A motley collection
of two- and four-wheeled machines has passed through my hands, including examples
from Honda, Yamaha, Sanglas, Moto Guzzi, Harley-Davidson, BMW, Saab, Jaguar,
MG and Alfa Romeo. Currently I have an ailing Alfa 147 (interested in a second-hand car?), as well as a BMW R1200GS motorcycle. I sometimes I nick my wife's three-wheeled scooter (Piaggio MP3), and have been testing the limits of its stability. I also have an old Moto Guzzi in my
garage, presently sitting on blocks.
My football obsession started with school football in Liverpool. I was born
a mile or so from Anfield, so I am inprinted on Liverpool Football Club.
I try to play once or twice a week, 'try' being the appropriate word.
I've been known to visit Withdean or the new Amex stadium
to watch Brighton and Hove Albion ( a poor substitute for Liverpool, I know).
A bit of culture too - I
try to scribble something arty on paper occasionally, though it is difficult
finding the time to get my head in gear for this kind of thing. I am also trying
to learn Italian - Italy is a favourite destination.
