Mutational processes

I am interested in the role of mutational processes in genome evolution. I am planning to investigate if sequence- or template- directed mutagenesis is prevalent in the human genome, whether it causes disease associated mutations and whether it is responsible for compensatory evolution. Finally, I will investigate if there is variation in the mutation rate on a fine scale, such that adjacent bases can have different mutation rates.
