The University
of Sussex is easily accessible by train, bus or car. Click here
for a map
of the area and a map
of the university .
The CSE is
on the fifth floor of the John Maynard Smith (Biology) building.
The entrance on the south side of the building, via Biology Road,
allows wheelchair access.
By train
The university is a three minute walk from Falmer train station.
Brighton and Lewes are the nearest junction stations - change at
Brighton if travelling from London or the west, Lewes if travelling
from the east. Both stations are about eight minutes from Falmer,
and trains run every 15 minutes during the day. Click here to
check train times.
Once at Falmer
train station, exit through the station building, follow the signposted
path, and go through the underpass. At the Y-junction ahead, turn
right onto Southern Ring Road, and continue approximately 100 metres
until the intersection with North-South Road. The Biology building
is to your left across the street.
By bus
The number 25 bus runs from the centre of Brighton to the university
campus at least four times an hour during the day and more frequently
at peak times. The journey takes approximately half an hour. The
first stop on campus is outside Sussex House, on Southern Ring Road.
If you alight here and continue along this road in the same direction
for approximately 20 metres you reach the intersection with North-South
Road, and the Biology building is across the street from you. Click
here for
the timetable.
Bus services
28, 30, 728 and 729 also run from Brighton, and stop just outside
the entrance to campus, on the A27. Enter the university on Falmer
House Road, turn right onto Southern Ring Road, and continue as
above to find the Biology building. Timetables can be found
on this site.
By car
The University is on the A27 road between Brighton and Lewes, about
four miles (six kilometres) from the centre of Brighton.
Visitors driving from London and the north should follow the M23/A23
road towards Brighton. Before you reach Brighton town centre, take
the A27 eastbound which is signposted to Lewes.
Drivers from the east or west should take the A27 direct to the
University. (Please note, opposite the University of Sussex campus
at Falmer is the University of Brighton's Falmer site. You should
follow the signs to 'Sussex University'.)
There are two designated visitor car parks (opposite Sussex House,
and in front of the East Slope accommodation); to gain access you
need to announce your arrival to University security staff via the
intercom system.
